1. Story of Shri Tiken Das

 

Shri Tiken Das (bearing beneficiary id AS1464380) is a resident of Chatanguri Village of Konwar Gaon Gaon Panchayat of Bhurbanda Development Block of Morigaon District of Assam. Shri Das is a single person and has nobody to call as his family. He was earning a meagre income by weaving traditional cloths. He used to live in a dilapidated kutcha house in which he faced a lot of problems during rains. As the rainy season is long in Assam the troubles kept on recurring. With meagre income and no support for anybody, he never even dreamt of a full-fledged pucca house. All he wanted to be a stable house which could save him from rain.

He was very happily surprised when a representative of the Gaon Panchayat informed him that his name has appeared in the Permeant Wait List of PMAY-G and he would soon be receiving a house from Government. 

His existing kutcha house was GEO Tagged on 3rd February 2017 and without wasting any time he was immediately sanctioned a house on 4th of February 2017 and his 1st instalment was transferred on 9th February 2017. The house was built at a good pace and the 2nd Instalment was transferred on 10th April 2018 and the 3rd Instalment was transferred on 28th June 2017 and was soon completed after. He had also received a toilet under Swachh Bharat Mission -Gramin.

2. Success Story of Smti Merry Hembrom

 

Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G), the national rural housing scheme for the rural poor and destitute was implemented from 2016-17. The scheme was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India with an objective to provide housing for all Indians by 2022. This holistic scheme is aimed at providing not only the house to the rural poor but also to provide IHHL (Individual Household Latrine), cooking gas connection, electricity connection, etc.

PMAY-G beneficiaries are selected from the SECC permanent waitlist after proper verification of their eligibility by the engineers in the field. Once a beneficiary is selected, then her/his application is registered in AawaasSoft and sanction is accorded by the District Program Coordinator. The first instalment is then released @Rs 32,500/- to construct the plinth and then geo-tagged by the engineers after inspecting the quality. Subsequently, second instalment is released @Rs 78,000/- to construct up to roof cast. The third instalment is released @Rs 19,500/- to complete plastering of walls and floors along with paint. Beneficiaries are provided with an additional 95 days wages @Rs 189/day from MGNREGA and IHHL @Rs 12,000/- from MGNREGA, if it is not provided by Swachh Bharat Mission - Gramin.

Smti Merry Hembrom is one such beneficiary of PMAY-G scheme. She used to live in a small kutcha house in Shrirampur No. 1 village in Hatidhura Block of Kokrajhar district of Assam. She is a Christian Minority woman who works as a manual casual labourer, in daily wage system. Her aspiration to live in a pucca safe house was fulfilled when she was allotted a PMAY-G house on 22nd March 2017. She used to feel insecure in the old house including low social esteem among the relatives. She completed the house in a very short span of 7 months. Her beneficiary id is AS1059877.

 3. Story of Smti Devaojani Narah

 

Smti Devajoni Narah is a resident of Dighali Miri village of Bishnupur Gaon Panchayat of Dhemaji Development Block of Dhemaji district of Assam. Her beneficiary id is AS1606376. Dhemaji is a district which is flooded by the mighty Brahmaputra river every year. Smti Narah belongs to the Mishing community of Assam an indigenous tribe which is close-knitted and are the people are very hard working. The frequent floods very often destroy dwelling houses built with traditional bamboo and they have to be repaired every year. 

            On 3rd of March 2017, she got the sanction of a PMAY-G house. The house was sanctioned jointly in the name of Smti Narah and her husband. In a very short span of time funds were received by Smti Narah and the house was constructed despite flood and frequent rainfall.

            Now Smti Narah along with her family lives in a very beautiful PMAY-G house of the chang category. Smti Narah could be reached through Shri Utpal Camuah (9508676252), who is the coordinator of the mentioned Gaon Panchayat.
